Rachel Johnson will be back for her tenth season with the Geysers! Coach Rachel has been coaching for fourteen years. She started swimming competitively when she was 8 years old. Growing up, she swam summer league with SHRSL and was an All-Star qualifier every year. She then went on to club and high school swimming and swam for the Fort Bend Austin HS Varsity Swim Team all four years of high school. Throughout her years there, she got to compete in the 100 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke, 200 IM, and 200 Freestyle relay at the Regional and State competitions. She earned an academic and athletic scholarship to the University of Houston where she swam for 3 years. She absolutely loves coaching and wouldn’t give it up for anything!
Paden Fontenot will be joining us as a Coach. Coach Paden comes to the Greatwood Geysers Swim team with lots of swim and coaching experience. His love for the water started with the SHRSL summer rec league, moving onto swim for First Colony’s Club Swim Team. He was a 4-year varsity swimmer at Lamar Consolidated and then went on to swim for Ouachita Baptist University, an NCAA division 2 school. He is the Head Coach for The George Ranch Longhorns swim and dive program and looks forward to working with current and future maroon track swimmers as they progress into high school athletics. His coaching philosophy is centered around having a passion for the pool, bringing the energy every day, and having an eye for the details. Swimming is a sport that is equal parts mental as it is physical. Coach Paden strives to teach kids how to mentally check in, enjoy the process, and work hard towards achieving their swim goals. His go to motivational statement is, “either you win or you learn.”
